If you didnt know, my first press comes from the DIY Screen Print Kit. Its a one color table-top press (unboxing video here) which means you need a table top to mount it to. Or I guess you could lay it in your lap?
I could use any old table or I could buy an expensive screen printing cart with wheels and shelves to hold screens and supplies, but I am super cheap.
So I went back to my bachelor roots and headed to my local Ikea to see if there was anything cheap and crummy there I could mount my table top press to. I was looking for a desk or something but I think what I ended up getting was way better. Like a trillion times better.
Check the video below. More photos at the bottom of this post.
So I am really excited that I found this kitchen cart because it is way more useful and sturdy than I thought I could afford. For only $60, it pretty much does everything an expensive screen printing cart could do. It’s small and super portable with the casters, and has shelf space to hold ink and other screen printing supplies.
The shelves are the perfect size to hold a screen too!
My plan is to bolt some more stuff to this to make it even more awesome, including adding some more simple shelves to it so I can hold even more screens.
Anyways I HIGHLY recommend going to your local Ikea and getting one of these kitchen carts if you are looking for a solution for mounting a table top print press. Especially if you are on a budget. The link to get the exact one I bought is: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/30240348/

I have that same press and need a table. Is it tippy at all when you press down hard on the squeegee while printing?

Hi Lisa! I do not have that problem with the same press and I was very careful to make sure to mount it as close to the middle as possible and with the wheels on the backside (which I believe helps). Other people using the same cart but a larger press have told me they have put something heavy down on the bottom shelf like cinder blocks to prevent it from tipping. I hope that helps!
