Get Customers to Your Screen Printing Business

My wife Sarah works in sales at a promotional products company that specializes in screen printing, embroidery, and dye sublimation. She is the most organized human being I have ever known.

I asked her if she had any quick tips to share that help her make sales and keep customers happy. So here’s Sarah!

If you are going to start a screen printing business, you need to know how to sell your product. Your ability to be a GREAT salesperson is key. Your business and lifestyle all depend on it.  Here are a few tips to ensure you’re doing it right!

Stay organized!

Don’t expect your clients to keep up with their own stuff. You are going to have to stay on top of them for their business. If you have a client that asks you for a quote, follow up with them a week later and see if they’re still interested. There have been so many times when the client has gotten too busy, or just plain forgotten that they didn’t already order their t-shirts, that when I send them a friendly reminder, it results in me getting money.

Put ideas in your client’s heads

We send out weekly fliers suggesting “what’s HOT now” items based on season, or holidays. They may not even realize they’re in the market for Moscow mule mugs, but after seeing your flyer, they think it’s a pretty good idea and email you for pricing.

You can keep a mailing list and use it to tell your customers about new products and seasonal things like baseball jerseys for summer and gifts for the holidays. You might get in front of your customer at just the right time when they need something custom made.

When you find a new product that you think your customer would be interested in, send it to them with pricing for different quantities. It might peak their interest enough to make a purchase.
Basically find a way to show your customers what you’re capable of creating and it will blow them away. If you can make them say, “Wow I didn’t know I could get a custom gizmo like that”, you’ll probably turn them into a repeat buyer.

Great article, I really agree with Sarah, staying organized and making follow up is very important in all business. I love her marketing strategies especially the weekly flyers, promoting items based on seasons, or holidays, and keeping mailing list to promote new products. These kinds of strategies will really help and provide repeat buyers.
