Hi Sportscreen! Great question but I’m afraid I’m not familiar with Xante. If you are having incompatability problems you should see if you can print from Bootcamp or Parallels. Are you trying to print through a RIP program?
I personally like Epson printers and think they are the best choice for printing films (here’s an archived article from Ulano that has some explanation but keep in mind this is archived and may be out of date https://web.archive.org/web/20150315053618/http://www.ulano.com/ijf/epsonprinters.htm#whyepson). I really like the Epson Stylus range and I know most people start with the 1400. I used an Epson Stylus 7800 all day every day for years and hardly had any trouble with it. Thats a pricier one but it can print 24″W and used 100′ huge rolls of film.
I think I would also recommend switching to a clear waterproof film instead of using the vellum. You can get some Ulano waterproof film in sheets or rolls. I promise I’m not trying to sell you on an Epson or on Ulano film, it’s just what I am used to. I hope that helps somewhat!!!
You could also ask your question to our facebook group to see if anybody else has some insight into the Xante you are using. https://www.facebook.com/groups/screenprintingathome/
