As I continue to build my garage screen printing shop, I’m always looking for ways to save space. I wanted to build my own DIY exposure unit, but I didn’t want it to take up a lot of floor space at the same time.
So I looked to the heavens, or at my garage ceiling and decided that was a good place to start.
I figured having a vertical style DIY exposure unit would be the way to go. My light source, which is a 500 watt halogen work-light for now, is mounted to the ceiling with a garage door bracket. I put a small utility hook on the wall where the screen would rest against the wall in front of the light to be exposed. And then to mimic the effect of having a vacuum top, I used a space saving vacuum bag on the screen to make sure no light could get between my art work and the mesh of the screen and blur the image.
Look, its all in the video above.
